Citroen H type van is extensively damaged
2 weeks after restoration work was finished
A fool pulled out of sidestreet without looking and caused all this damage being left hand drive it has done damage to steering and pedal boxes also chassis damage, broken heater box and matrix, all floor pan, pushed front across to other side and pushed door into rear panel of van, so now have to hope insurance company will authorise repairs with used panels if we can source them all, would appreciate any help with parts if anyone has any or know of any. Will be updating page as soon as anymore news.
 Serious damage to left side
 Suspension is damaged also
We have now got the go ahead for the repairs from the other drivers insurance company (Saga) who I must say have been very understanding with the claim having given the insured a hire van for the whole time the van is being repaired, we have sourced all the parts now so have started the repair, after removing damaged parts the van seems to be in quite good condition not much rust showing really, the steering box has split and there is some structual damage as pics show, will add more of work in progress when parts are being fitted.
 Rad burst heater smashed
 floor and arch badly damaged
weld piece in from original door
We are now making progress at last, have had to fabricate a piece of damaged door into s/h door owner supplied as was from earlier van with the ordinary latch mechanism with no key locking in door handle and windows that lock from inside the door, will have to be filled around welds before painting though.
 Door from earlier van
 Damaged box and chassis mounting
 Stripped ready for repair
The new panel which arrived from Holland was for the benelux model of van with the strengthening panel on inside which had to be modified to fit, also holes will need welding up and filling. The step was cut from another van and trimmed before fitting making part of bannana shaped panel around wing first, the clip in floor now fits pedals are all working and s/h steering column is fitted and working. Bonnet fitted which owner supplied allthough panels look a bit rough they are quite good when surface rust is removed, will need a good flat and plenty of good primer and should last for a number of years if looked after, more pics when van is painted and back to pre accident, owner can get on with his refurb of interior and get back to using van for his business soon
